The movie, besides the glaring errors, was pretty all right. It wasn't really my cup of tea because it did very little to explore the spiritual side of Johnny Cash, only the man with the drug problem who is redeemed by his one true love, which seems to have missed the mark. Some good dramatic moments in it, I dunno. I own it but I will probably not watch it again, I just love Cash too much!

What did you think about the movie?

Yeah I don't get it either, but I still like it, I dunno.

Also yeah, I just am not a fan of Danny Boy in any of its iterations, I seem to remember an SNL sketch or some comedy sketch about a compilation album of different celebrities singing the same song, and it's "Danny Boy"... I distinctly remember another sketch that definitely has different fake celebrities singing "Stand By Your Man"

I don't mind saying I can't even begin to understand that Florida/New York thing.

Your Description of "Long Black Veil" put me in mind of Gary Moore's "Over the Hills and Far Away". His protagonist only goes to jail for a long time though - no woman's worth hanging for!

Bob Dylan songs are always better when performed by anyone but Bob Dylan. It makes them listenable.

Danny Boy is an awful song. Please play it loud and often for Sardius' sake.

The American series are really amazing, don't get me wrong, but there's a lot of great stuff in Johnny's older catalogue, you just kind of have to know where to look, and always avoid "best of" compilations, except for Ring Of Fire: The Best Of Johnny Cash, which is a misnomer, only a few of the songs on there were ever recorded previously, and it's the album debut of one of a few of his most famous songs!

Orange Blossom Special is up there amongst my favorites, but I am also really into The Fabulous Johnny Cash, Johnny Cash With His Hot And Blue Guitar, Bitter Tears: Ballads Of The American Indian, and America.

I will say that Unearthed might be my favorite album, if all 5 discs are to be considered. His version of Billy Joe Shaver's "If I Give My Soul" has to be one of my top 3 favorite songs ever.

That's a lot of music, dude. I wouldn't even know what to do with it all ha ha. I only have about 700 albums, though they are mostly full albums.

The only Cash I have is the American series and Unearthed. I really like those, but for some reason I'm leery about getting the old stuff.

I suppose having too much bloody music doesn't help matters, really. (Almost 6000 items in the albums category of Media Player! But not all of those are full albums, and there's a bunch of multi-disc things, and there are a number of albums where I have one or two tracks)
